The Kent London Athletics Network ("KLAN") comprises a number of local clubs that offer friendly and socialble runnning as well as track and field athletics. Along with the health benefits of regular exercise, being a member of a club increases your circle of friends and knowledge of local routes. You will also find out about entering events and other opportunities such as discounts on equipment as well as finding a wealth of knowledge amongst fellow members.
The Bromley Midsummer Evening 10k is a picturesque midsummer evening flat 10k race starting just outside Norman Park Athletics Track, taking you through parkland and into the surrounding scenic woodland and fields.
Jemma’s workshop will include: Body maintenance; Warm up routines; Biomechanics; Strengthening exercises; and The importance of hydration.
Jemma's events were the 800m and 1500m for which she has PBs of 1:58 and 4:06 respectively. She was ranked in the top 10 in the world for 800m 2009, 2010. She competed in two Commonwealth Games finals in 800m and 1500m, 3 European Championships finals, 2 World Championships semi-finals and The Beijing Olympics. She was also ranked in the top 3 in Britain for 5-6 years.
Jemma's background in middle distance training means that she can provide lots of tips and advice in all aspects of training that an individual can tailor to suit their needs.

Based on the content of his new book, “Applying Music in Exercise and Sport”, Dr Costas Karageorghis will present theoretical principles and cutting edge research related to music applications in the domain of exercise and sport. The lecture will be lively and interactive in nature, with the use of numerous practical examples to illustrate theoretical principles. The workshop consists of both a theory and practical session, with the practical session taking place outdoors, so participants will need to be prepared for the weather.
If you are interested in attending, booking can be made online at the England Athletics ULearn website. The cost is £20 for England Athletics affiliated members or £30 for unaffiliated participants. This includes a place at the workshop, a DBS check for the guide runner licence, insurance through UK Athletics and registration on the Find a Guide database, if participants would like to be included.
